Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. The B Corp community works towards reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose.
Ethical is morally good, right, correct; and in accordance with the rules or standards for right conduct or practice.
Ethical Fashion is kind to the planet and people every step of the way: from seed to garment. Producing an item of clothing involves design, labor, and materials; and aims to reduce the negative impact on people, animals, and the planet.
Ethical Trade company/organization practices follow codes of conduct to improve human rights, including labor conditions, safeguards in the workplace, and social and environmental conditions in production, purchasing practices, and supply chains.
Fair Trade means that all producers receive fair prices for their products and the people who produce the goods have good working conditions and are paid a fair wage.
Fair Trade Certified organizations have a certification process to ensure that a product is made according to rigorous social, environmental, and economic standards. This means that the people making Fair Trade Certified goods work in safe conditions, will have sustainable livelihoods and earn additional money to empower and uplift their communities; and the manufacturing process protects the environment.
Natural Materials are made by nature, not by man.
Oeko-Tex Certified Fabric is completely free from harmful chemicals and safe for human use. To attain Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, the fabric has been tested and certified to be free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human health.
Recycle means to convert into usable material again.
Recycled Fibers are such (fibers) that, when manufactured correctly, save the planet from herbicides and pesticides associated with growing more cotton while keeping textile waste away from landfills, and using less water in the process.
Reduce means make smaller in amount or size.
Renewable is to become or begin new, again and again...and again.
Repurpose is to adapt or give a new purpose or use.
Reuse means use again, one or more times.
Sustainable means meeting present economic, environmental and social needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet these same needs.
Sustainable Fashion is a process of change in the ways of thinking and practices of design, production, communication, wearing and enjoying fashion that values diversity, prosperity and the well-being of both people and the environment.
Sustainable Textile is produced with all materials and processes from renewable and/or recycled sources. The inputs and outputs are healthy and safe for humans and the environment, in all phases of the product life cycle.
Upcycled is a variety of processes by which something “old” gets modified and gets a “new” or different useful life.
Upcycled Garment is reused (discarded garments or material) in such a way as to create a new or different garment of higher quality or value than the original.
